Baby first kit in winter - tips from a mum of three
I have learnt from my children that less is more and that you really don't need much at the beginning. It is more important to buy the right, high-quality products than to have a mountain of clothes in the wardrobe.
I have always been happy to dress my children in high-quality and often more expensive clothes. I was also able to pass them on or pass them on as they still look great even after being washed several times. I can therefore only advise all parents-to-be to invest in a few high-quality wool or cashmere basics for the winter.
Winter can be a wonderful but also challenging time for new parents. Above all, it is important that the baby has enough warm clothing, as babies are not yet able to regulate their body temperature well and cool down quickly. They also come from a warm womb and are used to a temperature of 38°C. The room temperature is between 20 and 23 degrees, so babies are cold even at room temperature. In this article, I would therefore like to look at the most important components of basic baby equipment for winter.
Buying the right size
Newborn babies weigh on average between 3,200 g and 3,600 g at birth - the perfect clothing size is 50/56. You don't need much in this size, but you should have a few items of clothing that will keep your baby warm and comfortable to start with.
This is especially important if you are a first-time parent:- You won't usually be undressing and changing your baby several times a day.
- Babies aren't dirty, they don't sweat, they don't spit up from morning to night and their nappies don't leak all the time.
- You will probably be given a few items of clothing or inherit them from friends. So concentrate on the essential and warming basics to start with.
Where can I find high-quality products?
I recommend all parents-to-be to take a look at Babybox & Family. It's a shop founded by mums and midwives that is known for its expertise and carefully selected products for the little ones. I was a loyal fan and customer of Babybox long before Nani Berlin and it's still my favourite shop when it comes to finding quality, long-lasting products for my children. The Babybox offers comprehensive initial equipment - advice (also online) and checklists for initial equipment.
